How To Get The Most Out Of Your Hair Mask With Different Hair Types

You researched, chose the right hair mask for you, and now it's sitting on your kitchen counter. The next step is to try it and see the results. There are two factors that come into play, however, that you need to be aware of: your hair type, and the method of application.

While the instructions on the container are helpful, sometimes we need more detailed directions that don’t fit on the label. Read on if you want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your new hair mask.

Fine

Fine hair tends to get oily faster than other types, and products can weigh it down. With that in mind, we suggest cleansing with a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo first. After washing it out, put just under a quarter-sized amount of the mask into your palm and rub it into the ends of your hair. If possible, run a wide-toothed comb through your strands for an even application. Leave on for five to ten minutes, then rinse. Repeat once a week.

Thicker hair usually requires more thorough coverage and longer processing times. Dab a little more than a quarter-sized amount of your mask into your palm and then apply it from mid-length to the ends. Run a wide-toothed comb through it to ensure an even coverage. Leave on for up to half an hour, and then gently rinse. Repeat once a week.

Whether your hair is fine or thick, chemical processing can be a game-changer. In fact, you may want to soak your hair in your mask overnight. For an extra boost of nourishment, try applying a leave-in serum or conditioner to the ends of your hair every morning.

Whether your hair is thick or thin, color treated, natural or relaxed, using your new mask the right way will give you the gorgeous results you’ve been hoping for. If you haven't found your perfect hair mask yet, try to search for a product containing all-natural ingredients like argan oil, vitamin B5, and keratin. Finally, make sure to stick to using it once or twice a week for long-term hair health.
