Have you ever walked into a salon to get a new haircut or hairstyle just so you could leave feeling like a new you? Only to walk out looking like you ate you, and all that weight went to your face. Well guess what Jimmy Neutron, certain hairstyles could surprisingly add about five more pounds to your face. Before you go chasing down the innocent child who sold you cookies while you were getting your new hair do… you may want to take it up with your stylist.
Not every style was made for everyone. Most of the time you have to work with what you got, especially for those of us with round faces. It's usually best to stick to long or layered hairstyles, and though that may not seem like a lot, there are plenty of options to choose from. Skip the gym tonight and test out these nine hairstyles that make your face appear thinner. Weight loss from a hair cut? Yes please.
1. Long elegant curls
Long hair is known to elongate the face and with those added soft curls, people will look more closely at your hairstyle rather than facial features.
2. Asymmetrical bob
A regular bob can easily make a round face look pudgy, especially if it stops exactly at the chin. Aim for an asymmetrical bob that is longer in the front and shorter in the back, to give your head that extra length and volume. (Warning: avoid giving yourself a mullet)
3. Fringy bangs
Fringy bangs that are shorter in the middle and longer on the sides will help the face look slimmer as they frame the face creating a draping look.
4. High bun
Pulling the hair straight up to the top of the head seems to elongate the face giving you a more slimmer, oval shaped appearance. High buns and top knots seem to be the go-to for an instantly slimmer face.
5. Layers
Layers bring a lot of volume and if your hair is bigger, than your head tends to look smaller. The extra layers falling from your cheeks and below your chin make your jaw line appear longer as well.
6. Highlights
Highlights in your hair add depth and shape which make the hair look more fuller. The thicker the hairstyle, the thinner the face. Highlights draw the attention for people to look vertically at your face.
7. Long Shag/LOB
Long, shoulder length, shag haircuts draw the attention downward while the soft layers create volume.
8. Half Updo

A high ponytail or top knot with half of the hair out will leave people to focus from the top of the head down past the shoulders. This dimension will assure a slimming structure.
9. Side Swept Bang
Deep side parts or side swept bands highlight your cheekbones and jawline, extending the length of your face.
