Whether you have it naturally or spent hours at the salon to get it, straight hair can be both fun and frustrating. It looks perfect on the likes of Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow, but sometimes it feels impossible to keep it looking healthy without five celebrity stylists and hours in front of the mirror...
So if you’re feeling at a loss for what to do to amp up your straight hair, we suggest trying some
of the quick and easy tips below.
A good majority of straight hair is also fine, which can lead to an oily scalp. One rule of thumb is to cleanse with a sulfate-free shampoo every other day. We suggest using a premium shampoo and conditioner system, which includes nourishing vitamins and proteins to help maintain strength.
A great way to keep your hair hydrated is to add a weekly deep-conditioning masque to your beauty routine. Try to find a product with natural ingredients, like coconut oil and jojoba seed. We recommend a premium deep hydration masque. Take a quarter-sized amount of the masque and apply it from mid-length to ends, then leave it in for about five to ten minutes.
To pull off the super-sleek look, try to bring a wide-toothed comb into the shower with you. After applying your conditioner or masque, gently comb through, starting at the ends. Rinse with cool
water, then repeat the combing process one more time.
If possible, try to wait until your hair is at least 80% dry, and when you do use your dryer, set the temperature as low as you can. To avoid frizz, try to angle your hair dryer down and comb through gently as you dry.
Top off your hair with a natural serum to reduce the appearance of flyaways. Try to avoid products with parabens and dyes, as these can alter the look of straight hair. Dab a small amount into your palm and rub it through the ends of your hair. Gently comb through.
Straight hair doesn’t have to be difficult to manage. If you follow these simple steps and add-in some extra nourishment with a hair vitamin, you’ll see the gorgeous hair you’ve been dreaming of for years.
Deliciously sleek, deep side parts were all over Paris’ Spring 2017 Fashion Week. Models for Yves Saint Laurent, Michael Kors and Bottega Venetta all sported the look, and now everyone seems to be recreating it. Want to try the style yourself? Gather your products and follow these steps below!
This look is all about hydration, hydration, hydration.
You want your hair to be as sleek as possible, so a deep conditioning masque is an essential first step.
These treatments are chock-full of vitamins and minerals to help promote shiny, sleek strands. Use a quality shampoo first, then apply a hair masque and leave it in for about 15-20 minutes.
Wash out with cool water and pat your hair dry with a towel.
Gently dry your hair on your blow-dryer’s lowest setting until it’s only slightly damp. Then, pump a dime-sized amount of Moroccan oil or serum onto your fingers and apply it to the ends of your hair. It will smooth your tresses with natural ingredients like vitamin E and argan oil. Gently comb it through
your hair.
It’s finally time to create that part! Brush back the hair on your crown with your comb. Then, place the edge of the comb at the hairline just above the arch of one of your eyebrows. It should be about 1-2 inches away from a normal central part. Draw a part here, and then comb through your hair again.
Dab another dime-sized amount of Moroccan Repair Serum into your palms and rub them together. Press your palms gently down on either side of your part and slide them down to the ends of your
hair. Do one more light comb-through, and you’re good to go!
The sleek side part looks deceptively easy, but it’s sometimes difficult to pull off. With the right
tools, though, you’ll be sporting this popular runway look in no time.
