Want thicker hair with tons of volume? We’ve got a DIY sea salt hair mask that will give you the look you want for a price you can’t say no to. That’s because you make it at home with ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen and a few squirts of Hair La Vie Serum.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons sea salt
1 tablespoon honey
2-3 generous squirts of Hair La Vie Serum
Directions:
Mix the ingredients together and stir until the salt is completely dissolved.
If the salt isn’t dissolving, add more HLV Serum, one squirt at a time until the salt is dissolved. If the mixture is too watery, then add more honey until you get the consistency you want.
Apply the mask to your scalp and then cover it with a shower cap. Take a break and relax for 20 minutes while your sea salt mask does its job. Then wash it completely out with shampoo and finish with conditioner and a final, cool rinse.
Your hair faces a multitude of stressors on a daily basis. Whether it’s something you control, like how you style your hair, or something totally out of your control, like the environment, your hair needs some pampering to recover.
Hair masks are the perfect way to recover and add bounce and volume back to your hair. They restore and nourish your scalp, so it will provide a more fertile environment for your hair to grow in. But not all masks are created equally, so let’s take a look at what makes this sea salt hair mask special.
Sea salt is an incredible ingredient that comes with a long history and a lot of benefits. That said, it’s important to know that it does have a dehydrating quality too.
So, while you’re basking in the benefits listed below, remember that you should only use this mask once a month and you should condition afterward.
♦ Sea salt has a variety of minerals, like zinc, sodium, calcium, and magnesium, that can give your hair a boost of volume, strength and some texture too. Table salt does not have these same minerals, so it’s key to make sure you’re using sea salt.
♦ Rubbing a mask with sea salt onto your scalp will stimulate blood circulation, which moves nutrient-rich blood to your hair follicles.
♦ Salt is an effective exfoliator, giving the scalp a vigorous rub and removing dead skin cells and dandruff flakes.
♦ Salt is a great absorber of excess oil and it also can inhibit the development of hairline acne.
♦ Sea salt has an alkalizing effect, which means it creates an environment that’s inhospitable to fungal infections.
♦ Sea salt may help psoriasis sufferers, at least if it comes from the Dead Sea, according to a study published in the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
The amazing and long history of honey proves how its sweet treat properties aren’t the only thing that has made it the cherished liquid gold that it is. The following qualities provide health benefits and make it a great mask ingredient.
♦ Honey comes with natural anti-inflammatory properties that will soothe your skin, calm irritations and can prevent breakouts.
♦ Honey helps to balance oil production while retaining hydration in your skin where it’s needed most.
♦ A natural emollient, honey seals in moisture, so it’s less likely to break.
♦ The antioxidant properties in honey protect both your hair and scalp from damage.
♦ For strong follicles that hold hair better, honey is the answer.
♦ The natural antibacterial and antiseptic qualities of honey can help prevent scalp infections and soothe dandruff, eczema, and psoriasis.
Hair La Vie Serum is a great way to give your hair a touch of light oil that doesn’t weigh hair down. Made of seven natural ingredients, this fresh-smelling oil fights frizz and nourishes your hair.
♦ Argan oil is a natural skin conditioner that promotes shine by adding vitamin E and moisture.
♦ Coconut oil has long been used as a moisturizer for hair, HLV Serum adds coconut oil and fractionated coconut oil, so you reap all the benefits you can from this hair-loving nut.
♦ Avocado oil is packed with vitamins A, B, D, E, protein, amino acids, iron, copper, magnesium and folic acid to dose your scalp and hair with the best the mother nature has to offer.
♦ The jojoba seed has a molecular structure similar to the sebum your scalp naturally produces. This boosts your natural hair shine and strength without any effort at all.
Hair masks have been around a long time but are currently enjoying a resurgence of popularity. There are a variety of masks on the market and ones that you can make at home. The trick is finding one that gives your hair all the benefits it can and addresses your specific needs.
This sea salt hair mask is packed with benefits, but it does have a slight dehydrating effect from the salt. It’s best that you don’t use this mask more than once a month. If you’re trying to tackle a serious dry hair problem, put this recipe on the back burner until your hair is in better condition.
It’s hard to believe that these three simple ingredients in a monthly mask can provide your hair with so much benefit, but it’s true. Whip up a batch and try it today to see how remarkably soft and thick your hair can be.
