Citrus spinach salad

Citrus spinach salad

With a burst of fresh citrus and a healthy dose of spinach, this salad is a sweet way to revive yourself midday. It’s an easy recipe to make ahead and then bring to work, which is perfect for those days when you’re overworked and overstressed.

It’s also a wonderful way to keep your hair goals on track without any effort. Packed with ingredients designed to give your scalp the fuel it needs to grow great hair, this salad is a must.

Spinach is loaded with nutrients that are great for your body, which makes it the perfect base for this salad. It’s an easy way to add this healthy food to your diet and its bitter nature is sweetened by just the right amount of citrus and honey.

Spinach supports hair growth by giving you a hefty dose of iron, to keep your blood supply rich and vital. Vitamin A and C also play a big role in the makeup of these leafy greens. Vitamin A is known for regulating the sebum production of your scalp, which provides moisture and softness to your hair. Vitamin C helps strengthen your collagen.

But it doesn’t end with the spinach. If we want to talk about vitamin C, you no doubt instinctively think of citrus fruits. As well you should, because they’re just full of this collagen-building vitamin.

While you know all about the vitamin C in citrus, you might not know about inositol. Inositol is also known as vitamin B8 and it’s found in abundance in citrus. In a scientific study, inositol was found to promote significant hair growth in women with temporary hair thinning. This might just be what you’re looking for.

With just the right amount of honey in the dressing, you add to the sweet and addictive nature of this salad while giving your hair something it craves.

Honey and hair go way back and were always a good team. When consumed, honey boosts hair growth and adds volume and softness. At the same time, it’s adding strength from the inside and fighting impurities.

If you have a little honey leftover after this salad, you may want to try massaging it into your scalp, like a mask, then rinsing thoroughly. Honey has a lot of benefits to offer, even when it’s just hanging out on your head for a while.

Citrus spinach salad

Ingredients:

1 package (6 oz) fresh baby spinach

3 medium navel oranges, peeled and sectioned

1 large grapefruit, peeled and sectioned

6 slices red onion, separated into rings

Dressing Ingredients:

¼ cup ruby red grapefruit juice

¼ cup olive oil

¼ cup honey

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tbsp grated onion

2 tsp poppy seeds

1/8 tsp salt

Dash pepper

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine the spinach, oranges, grapefruit, and onion.

In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine the dressing ingredients. Shake well. Pour over salad and toss to coat. Serve immediately.

If you’re taking this salad to work or to school, we recommend storing the dressing in a separate container until you’re ready to eat.
