October not only heralds the costume craze of Halloween, but is also Breast Cancer Awareness month. That’s why Hair La Vie is donating 5% of all profits in October to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The easiest way to show your support is by sprinkling the color pink into your usual decor and celebrations. For almost 40 years, pink has symbolized breast cancer awareness.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has used pink as its color since it started in 1982, and began using pink visors and ribbons in the early 1990s. If you’re one of the many who live for this time of year, here are some great ideas to show support for breast cancer warriors while getting your spook on.

Plant Pink Pumpkins

Halloween and pumpkins have gone hand-in-hand since the 1800s, and there’s now a colorful twist on the season’s staple. We’re not talking plastic or painted here, but the real deal.

Decorate Your Party With Pink

This isn’t to say that you should completely forego the classic orange and black for Halloween time, but why not toss in some pink?

Elle Woods. Basically anything that the Legally Blonde main character wore is fair game for this costume. Chipper personality optional, but encouraged.

On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink. All you need is an oversized pink polo and some jeans for a super low-key costume that channels Mean Girls’ main character Cady.

Really, You Can Make Anything Pink. Wear a pink poodle skirt. Or a pink flapper dress. Or a pink cowboy hat. You don’t need to copy a famously “pink” character in order to tie the color into your costume.

Be creative! Even throwing on a pink wig counts. You might even see an all-pink Darth Vader menacing the rebellion while raising awareness.

Give Out Pink Candy

Decorate your candy bowl with pink ribbons and fill it with pink candy! Splurge on all-pink M&Ms, or look for chocolates wrapped in pink foil. Classic Bubble Tape, Starburst, lollipops, suckers, and jelly beans are all fair game and all come in the desired hue.
